Yes, More is Always Better!!  -  Wednesday, July 27, 2011

So, our choose your sale ends today and I was thinking..I personally like to buy more of an item when its on sale. For example, the other day there was a huge sale on some Guess shoes and I thought about buying one in every color and style. I mean, there were such great savings, I almost couldn't help mysef! Plus, I figured that if you get more items of a sale merchandise it'll probably equal out to what you would have spent for it at its regular price..especially when its quality designer items (well, at least that's my logic..and I'm sticking to it!) So yes, when on sale I say buy more!!

Happy Shopping!!

WHAT'S IN A SIZE??  -  Tuesday, July 05, 2011

What's in a size? apparantly everything; especially for us women. Its really unbelievable how much of ourselves we base on just one or two little letters on a tag. I read about a study the other day about department stores and sizes. The study took a bunch of women to different department stores and had them try on various different outfits in various sizes. The findings: Each woman was a different size in each store, eventhough they tried on the exact same type of outfit. So, for instance, if you tried on the same type of top in one store in a Small, and did the same at the other store, it turned out to be either too small or too big.

As a person who is in the fashion industry, I wasn't surprised by these findings at all. As I know a dirty litle secret; in that the designers pretty much just like to torture us and play mind games with us!! no, that's not exactly true; but they do manipulate the sizes. For example, there's something called "vanity" sizes. So a designers sizes may actually truly be small, medium, large. But to fool us, they label it xsmall, small and medium. Some even do the opposite and make their items two sizes too small.

Because of this fact, I always tell my customers to not really pay attention to the size on the tag and just to try the item on because you just never know. Even within the same designer, sizes can vary depending on the cut, shape and even material of the garment. So, don't shy away from an item because of the size because you might be pleasantly surprised!

LA FASHION WEEK  -  Thursday, June 23, 2011

LA Fashion Week was awesome this year!! just got back and we're pretty excited about our upcoming fall/holiday collections. Few notables:

-Glad to see designers are taking note of the fact that we are in a recession and making pieces that are wonderful..but at great prices.

-Color is in..Yeah!! we love color, because it is really another great way to express your fashion sense without going over the top. Lots of interesting colors that you don't normally see used alot in clothing items like orange, mango or any of those great sorbet colors.

-Designers are tweaking and making additions to their brands. Examples are some of our favorite jean lines like Mek who is adding jewels to their jeans so we can have great fitting jeans but still get our bling on! while Rock Revival is still giving us fit but also creating items that don't have as much of the bling that their known for.

-Not to leave the men out..we have great new line of jeans as well as hot new shirts!!

-All this plus introduction of our fabulous new lines like Hype, JoyJoy, and Rivet de Cru..its going to be a fantastic season!!

Happy Shopping!!

Fashion Trends  -  Wednesday, June 08, 2011

We get it, fashion can be a pain sometimes. Its somewhat of a love-hate relationship; we all like to look good, but does it have to be so complicated?!!? and the answer is simply NO. Again, fashion trends come and go but it doesn't necessarily mean that each fashion trend is for every-body. The key is to realize your body type and what works for it. The mantra really is true in that you should dress the body that you have and not base your image, and fashion views on the body that you want (especially not those of supermodels!). In doing this you'll have a true appreciation for your body. Well, easier said than done right. Not really.

Few simple guidelines: Identify and emphasize the best and most flattering part of your body and find items and clothes that emphasize that. For most women we want the hour glass shape; and the best way to do this is to identify the smallest part of your body. This is generally one's natural waist (right underneath the bust). Items that best gives this shape are belts, or A-line dresses. Recognize exactly what your style is. For example are you a classic-chic gal like Jackie Kennedy or Audrey Hepburn or more adventerous like Grace Jones. Don't be afraid to also accesorize and try bold colors..and don't be afraid to try items on because you'll be surprised what you find. These suggestions will naturally keep you "in the trend" and keep you looking good as well; as these are fashion staples that you can find regardless of the current trend.

Happy Shopping!!
